Issue #16: Return to the Wasteland: Part I
In this issue Logan is struggling trying to find out how he ended up back in the Wastelands, a post apocalyptic future that he previously escaped from. In his previous time in the wasteland he avenged his families murder by killing the crazed descendants of Bruce Banner. However, there was a young child of Banner's that he spared and took in as his own.
He gave this child to a woman named Danny to care. When he checked on her he finds that Kang had taken the baby and he is going after him!!
As he is trying to figure out how he got back there or if he ever left in the first place. He remembers being in space with Puck from Alpha flight. He was on a ship with him for some reason and he remembers the ship being attacked by a swarm of Brood. After the fight with the brood the ship breaks apart and Logan is thrown into space where he finally remembers!!!! But what....
Issue #17: Return to the Wasteland: Part II
We pick up with Logan floating through space;cold and dark. Remembers going to Niagra falls looking for Banner's grandson who was taken by Kang. The book gets a little hard to follow at this point. Logan appears to be switching between being in space fighting Brood with Puck, and in the wastelands looking for Kang and the grandchild of Banner.
In In the Wastelands he finds Kang who admits to taking the baby because he saw a premonition of the child becoming, what he calls, the Warlord. Kang wanted to kill the baby before this could happen.
Next we see a beautiful and horrifying drawing of Banner's grandchild as the Warlord. He is 12 ft tall with a Hulk body and a gladiator helmet. Absolutely breathtaking and terrible at the same time.
The Warlord begins to beat Logan and blame him for what he has become.. But this isn't reality. This hasn't happened yet. Someone is causing these visions in Logan's mind.......Jean!
Issue #18: Return to the Wasteland: Part III
Logan is having all kinds of crazy visions being produced by Jean. He sees the little Banner boy as a child and then in a blink he is the Warlord again ruling the wasteland with Dr. Doom bowing to him. He sees his children who are dead and they are talking about how he was a failure to them.
Then he snaps out of it. He realizes that Jean has a Brood embryo attached to her neck near her brain stem. He takes a huge risk and jumps and cuts it off her and she is somewhat back to normal and helps to take out the Brood army with her powers.
Even thought these visions were not real, Logan feels that he needs to find that baby of Banner's to ensure he never becomes the Warlord.
