Another reason is Soule and Camuncoli! I love these two guys and am so happy to see the working together. Soule has been writing on one of the only other Marvel comics that has been consistently good from week to week, Daredevil. And Camuncoli's art is the only saving grace of Slott's most recent run of Amazing Spider-Man. The art in this book is really beautiful! It shows of the power and rage of Vader so well.
With that said lets get into the review. This book picks up directly after the events of Episode III: Return of the Sith with Anakin Skywalker getting his cybernetic suit and becoming Darth Vader. Realizing that Padme is dead he is filled with rage and is bent on using his pain to become a sith Lord at the side of Palpatine.
His first mission as Darth Vader is to acquire his light saber. His was taken by Obi Wan after their battle on Mustafar and he needs to replace it. All of the other dead Jedi sabers have been destroyed by the empire so it is Vader's job to hunt down a rogue Jedi and take his/hers lightsaber for his own.
Vader is brought to the Mid Rim and dropped off at an unnamed planted by Palpatine where he believes a Jedi is hiding. There Vader dispatches a bunch of bandits that have stolen the ship left there for him by the Emporer and that is how the book ends. The fight between Vader and the bandits is so one sided and amazing. He just Vader's the hell out of them for three pages to take back his ship which he will use to find the Jedi. So far I am captivated!!
We also get the history of why Sith lightsabers are red. Light sabers run off of Kyber crystals and none of them glow red. They only begin to when the pain and suffering of its wielder is poured into it over time. So any saber can be corrupted. Vader just needs to find one.
4.5/5 for this one. If you are a Star Wars fan go get this book!!!
